Drama and the Performing Arts

Drama and the performing arts are a vibrant and vital part of life at Rydes Hill. Learning to stand up and talk in public, or perform in any way, is a invaluable life skill and even those who do not come to it naturally, develop an ease in standing up in front of others.

All children are introduced to Speech and Drama from Kindergarten. Throughout their time with us, our pupils have ample opportunity to perform a variety of material via performance poetry, sketches, musicals, plays and solo performances in front of their peers, the whole school, parents and family.

Drama is a flourishing subject at Rydes Hill and we love to see our confident and articulate children moving on to their Senior Schools. Many are awarded drama scholarships but, above all, they have a lifetime interest and enthusiasm for drama and the performing arts.

"I don’t think Laila would have thrived to the same extent in any other school. Just one aspect of this was the fact that she was able to share her joy for performing arts – which is so much a part of the school – from ballet to speech and drama to the amazing school productions, all underpinned by the outstanding, inclusive music department."FORMER PARENT
